I was approached by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner from the Royal Stoke University Hospital about designing a poster that showcases the transformation of breast cancer pathways.
Designing a poster that address breast cancer necessitates a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to effectively convey crucial information while evoking empathy and compassion. In essence, a well-designed self-managed pathway poster merges aesthetics with purpose, striving to educate, inspire, and inform of the newly launched multidisciplinary approach.
Branding
The choice of color palette is crucial, employing shades of pink to symbolise breast health. A balanced layout with contrasting colours ensures readability, allowing key messages to stand out.
Imagery plays a pivotal role, portraying diversity and solidarity, while maintaining sensitivity. This was personalised by implementing their uniforms. Typeface selection, favoring legibility, fosters easy comprehension of research, pathway information, challenges, and feedback.
Summary
Securing the coveted first-place award at the prestigious Royal College of Nursing Institute (RCNI) is a testament to the exceptional design and compelling content of the oncology pathways' poster.
This remarkable achievement underscores the poster's remarkable ability to captivate and educate viewers simultaneously. With a harmonious blend of vibrant visuals and informative messaging, the poster immediately captures attention, effectively conveying the emotive importance of transforming breast cancer pathways. Adorned with carefully chosen imagery and bespoke graphics, it ushers viewers through a journey of understanding, seamlessly presenting essential information on self-managed pathways, end of treatment reviews, and insightful feedback. The typography's eloquent yet accessible style ensures that every viewer can absorb the critical insights effortlessly. Notably, the poster's recognition and acceptance by the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO) further amplifies its impact, highlighting its role in advancing breast cancer education and advocacy. Such dual recognition reinforces the poster's ability to transcend design aesthetics, becoming a powerful tool for change and aligning with BASO's mission to promote excellence in breast cancer care.
